The 12th General Convention and the 45th Annual General Assembly of the Nepal Anti-Tuberculosis Association were successfully held in Kathmandu on Chaitra 10 and 11, 2081.
The Chief Guest at the inauguration ceremony was Hon. Kiran Thapa Magar, Minister for Health of Bagmati Province, while the guest of honor was Mr. Mim Bahadur Singh, representative from Save the Children.
During the inauguration, this year’s Otsuka Award and Dr. Narayan Govinda Amatya Memorial Award were presented.
Likewise, the book Seven Decades about the Association, written by Central Committee Member Mr. Mahendra Gopal Karmacharya, was launched jointly by the Chief Guest and the guest of honor.
The welcome speech was delivered by Central President Mr. Madan Kaji Shrestha. The Association’s activities were presented by General Secretary Mr. Rajan Shrestha. Former President Mr. Devendra Bahadur Pradhan delivered a goodwill message. In his address, the Chief Guest assured that the Provincial Government’s Ministry of Health is positive about providing necessary support to the Association.
Guest of honor Mr. Mim Bahadur Singh from Save the Children expressed that the Association’s tuberculosis prevention programs have been making significant contributions toward TB control in Nepal. The vote of thanks was given by Vice President Mr. Arun Pratap Rana. The program was conducted by Joint General Secretary Mrs. Radha Devi Maske.
In the closed session of the convention, 109 members were present. The Assistant Election Officer presented the election program to the assembly. The General Secretary presented the progress report for the fiscal year 2080/81 and the proposed programs for 2082/83, while the Treasurer presented the audit report and the proposed budget for 2082/83. After necessary discussions, the assembly approved them.

After the election, at the election ceremony, Election Officer Mr. Chandeshwar Shrestha distributed certificates to the elected office bearers and administered the oath of office. At the same ceremony, the newly elected President presented a certificate of appreciation to outgoing President Mr. Madan Kaji Shrestha. In his speech, he expressed that the Association would move ahead in a stronger and more effective manner in the fight against tuberculosis in the coming days, with full unity among all newly elected officials. He thanked all donor partners, district branch members, staff of the Association, and the election officials for their contributions to making the convention harmonious and successful.
The closing session of the assembly was conducted by the Association’s Executive officer Mr. Ram Kaji Karki.
