On 25 Chaitra 2082 B.S., Nepal Tuberculosis Prevention Association successfully organized the inauguration ceremony of seven (7) private cabin units constructed for Kalimati Chest Hospital with financial support from various organizations and individuals.
The inauguration ceremony was chaired by the Central President of the Association, Mr. Devendra Bahadur Pradhan, while Ms. Sunita Dangol, Acting Chief of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, attended the program as the Chief Guest.
At the beginning of the program, the General Secretary of the Association, Mr. Shyam Kumar Shrestha, welcomed the Chief Guest, distinguished guests and all participants. He briefly introduced the Association and provided information about its objectives, activities and contributions in the field of tuberculosis prevention and control.
Established in 2010 B.S., Nepal Tuberculosis Prevention Association has been continuously working in the field of social service, particularly in the prevention, control and treatment of tuberculosis. The General Secretary emphasized the need to further strengthen and expand such activities in the coming days.
Addressing the inauguration ceremony, Central President Mr. Devendra Bahadur Pradhan stated that Nepal Tuberculosis Prevention Association is one of the pioneering social organizations working in the field of tuberculosis in Nepal. Since its establishment, the Association has been conducting various curative, preventive and awareness-raising programs for tuberculosis prevention and control.
He informed that the Association has expanded its organizational network to 32 districts and has been implementing various tuberculosis-related programs through its district branches.
He further stated that Kalimati Chest Hospital, operated by the Association, is a specialized hospital providing services for chest-related diseases. Due to reductions in the budget grant previously provided by the Government of Nepal, the hospital has been facing difficulties in its operation. He emphasized the need for an increase in the government budget allocation so that the hospital can be operated smoothly and systematically.
He also expressed the Association’s willingness to cooperate with Kathmandu Metropolitan City for the development of the hospital and other necessary activities.
The Chairperson expressed sincere appreciation to Mr. Dhurva Narayan Manandhar, Ward Chairperson of Kathmandu Metropolitan City Ward No. 13, for the annual financial and material support provided by the ward to the Association. He also expressed the expectation that such cooperation would continue in the future.
The Chief Guest, Ms. Sunita Dangol, Acting Chief of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, acknowledged the historical contribution of Nepal Tuberculosis Prevention Association toward the prevention and reduction of tuberculosis in Nepal.
She expressed the commitment of Kathmandu Metropolitan City to cooperate with the Association in the coming days, particularly in relation to the construction and development of hospital infrastructure and other necessary support.
She appreciated and thanked all individuals and organizations who provided financial assistance for the construction of the seven private cabin units.
The Acting Chief also highlighted the Association’s contribution to supporting the Government of Nepal’s tuberculosis prevention and control programs. She expressed her commitment to maintaining coordination and cooperation with essential health service organizations.
During the program, she also visited and observed Kalimati Chest Hospital, the GeneXpert TB Laboratory and the hostel operated by the Association.
Mr. Dhurva Narayan Manandhar, Ward Chairperson of Kathmandu Metropolitan City Ward No. 13, stated that the ward has been cooperating and coordinating with Nepal Tuberculosis Prevention Association for several years.
He expressed his commitment to continue providing necessary support and coordination for the Association’s programs and activities in the coming days.

During the ceremony, the Central President of the Association, Mr. Devendra Bahadur Pradhan, presented a token of appreciation on behalf of the Association to Ms. Sunita Dangol, Acting Chief of Kathmandu Metropolitan City.
The program was attended by members of the Central Working Committee, advisors, representatives of district branches, volunteers, female community health volunteers, representatives from various organizations, journalists and employees of the Association.
